Soanes cycles in Colyton Devon have a small GT for sale at the moment. Look on eBay for them or I think they have a website.

thanks for the thought, that's the one on ebay mentioned, its collection only, but is going in the mix, I have some rather distant relations living not that far away if necessary, but a few other irons in the fire as well including a T24 hopefully.

I wrote my reply before getting to the last page! I think Soanes will post stuff, if not I am not too far from them and know Sid who runs the place.

Re:

I built something similar up a few year ago for someone similarly sized (at some point I may get the bike back off the &*$%^@# - long and bloody divorce story... don't ask!) However, I ended up using a Kona Chute as a basis but at the time was also looking at a GT Chucker. Both are primarily jump bikes, I believe, but because of this have very sloping top tubes, giving you plenty of standover clearance. I built mine up using my old 90's LX cranks, some original gripshifts and so on, all sourced from the very lovely retrobike crowd (even put my nice white smoke and dart on the bugger... grrrr...) - weeman_mtb was the hero of my hour for frame and forks!

Anyhoo - that worked out for me - in terms of a bike that fitted at any rate. :D

Weirdly I was digging through some threads because I couldn't remember the make of the bike and don't have any pictures, and hit an ancient thread where I think you were asking a similar question a few years back (think, boringly, I replied about the same thing :D )

Oh and I noticed a comment on here earlier about islabikes. Whatever you've heard about them - double it an add some. Utterly beautiful little things. Bought one for my son a few years back and it's glorious. Geometery, handling, level of kit - utterly lovely. Really nice that he's learnt to ride on a bike that behaves and rides well: should set him up for wanting more with any luck! Which reminds me - my daughter ended up with a lovely Giant the same Christmas. Nicely spec'd, nice kit and so on. Worth having a scour of what they've got as well!

Good luck anyway!

Has Sid come back to run it....?? When I was last going in there, many MANY moons ago, it had been taken on by George, the lad that did all the trials riding and worked there, used to be down your way balancing on rocks at West Bay most weekends! :D

(George did, not me, I mean...)
