The attempt to bring 'democracy' to many countries has been the harbinger of doom.

Furthermore; if one is so keen on 'democracy', one would not be happy with the status quo. The EU is entirely anti democratic.

Taking Greece for an example, we also observe the EU is completely focussed on Capitalism, and will act in the least humane manner at the behest of global capitalist interests.

To write all the arguments for leaving off as petty racism is wildly inaccurate, and plays into the hands of the same old elite pulling the wool yet again.

Why bother having general elections here, when unelected figures are moving relentlessly towards securing ultimate power over everything our puppet parliament attempts?

This is where I don't understand people being so blase about it. The EU project has been progressing under the radar for decades, with no authority from us or other member states. It's clearly not finished.

More (poor) countries want in. The currency issue is unresolved with us out of it. Tax rates are all over the place. The end goal is pretty obvious, a super state run by one central bureaucracy, where we all do the same and have the same. With no say over anything.

Those who think it's a case of carrying on as before are very mistaken. Between the several countries now having anti EU campaigns, the austerity measures imposed against countries wishes and the total lack of respect for prior referendums, not to mention the free flow of people wherever they like I can see this ending in the very thing they are (incorrectly, naturally) crowing about having prevented for 70 years.

One could hardly make it up - the Germans are going to "make an example of Britain". Unless I'm much mistaken they've a bit of a history of trying this; I do hope that this kind of talk gets people off their backsides and voting to leave and stop these hideous examples of non-humanity controlling our laws. (Which THEY DO - please, please please just drop the retarded "argument" that we make 100% of our own laws which any halfwit knows simply isn't true in any meaningful sense.)

The UK is always bitching and whining because the Germans have a larger say in the EU than they do.
Of course the Germans do, they contribute a lot more!

In terms of financial contribution to the EU, you pay by far the smallest % of your Gross National Income.

In 2014, in the midst of the Syrian refugee crisis, the UK decided that it was full, so they put more border patrol agents in France and Belgium (yet another special privilege that we granted you, normally they should stay on British soil) to block refugees there. As a result, only 31400 refugees managed to apply for asylum in the UK.

Germany has a similar population density (227 people/km² vs the UK's 255) and processed 166.800 applications. That's 0.20% of their population, so 4 times more per capita than the UK). Their politicians don't seem to be complaining about lack of space.

I can already hear some people say "see, our population density is indeed a little larger so our argument that the country is full still stands". So ...

Belgium handled asylum requests from 19.600 refugees (0.17% of our population).
Percentage-wise, Belgium handles over 3 times as many asylum applications as the UK despite a population density of a whopping 364 people/km².
You'll need to take in roughly 100.000 refugees per year to get the same amount of refugees per capita. And you're over 30 million people removed from the ability to make any "out of space" claim.



Despite their comparatively small contribution in just about every aspect, the Brits somehow still have this crazy notion that they should be running the show here.
Their EU officials never have any positive contribution to make to the debates. All they do is complain left and right when they get outvoted. So why would we take them seriously? If enough countries were to agree with the UK's representatives, the votes would go your way. But they don't, so deal with it.



Of course we don't love you dearly. How could we? For decades the UK has been impossible to deal with. Always wanting more, always putting their own greed before the greater good.

British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

Some of those stats are risible, considering the dire straits of the French and Italian economies, amongst others. Posts like this should open the eyes at least a little for the most staunch remainers. The U.K. is the relation that nobody wants to turn up.

It's sad that this Referendum will split the country but I hope that if Remain win, they at least respect the depth of feeling of those in the leave group. Our very democracy is at stake. Priti Patel really impressed me tonight, great charisma and communication skills. Sadiq just reminds me of a typical Socialist bully.
