Etching Titanium

I was in maplin getting some epoxy when i noticed they do etching fluid for the circit boards.
The thought struck me what an etched Ti frame would look like, and how easy it would be to produce some swirly patterns, etc etc
The fluid in maplin was according to the rep on the pc ,not suitable for Ti.

Anyone know anything about such things ? :)

PCB etch solution is made from ferric chloride. Good for reacting with copper.

Long time since i did chemistry but seem to recall a metal reactivity series, i would expect Ti is up there at the least reactive end so guess this solution wont touch it..... but it is cheap enough for you to try?

There are bound to be chemicals (flourine based?) that will react with Ti but are nasty stuff so be careful, goggles and gloves to be worn.
