Eroica Britannia tickets are on sale

Re:

No playboy here but having been traveling the world all of my life for work and in retirement my pension pot is mine to spend.

Perhaps we retrobikers on Eroica duty should be wearing a suitable flag or armband to identify us from the mile.

Re:

I just placed my booking for the ride, next year about ten of us is going over. At least four of us will be on Monarks this time.

This is a approximately 1965 model 90320 as I bought it, its time to start working to get it ready for the ride.

We managed to hire a converted barn, that can sleep up to 14 just 2 miles from the festival area. The barn was less than two of two of the luxury tents!

Well looking at about £190 for the two of us... getting there on the Thursday before it all kicks off is a good idea...

Will have to think about this, I have to say I'm not fully convinced by the new venue. If I do go just pray the weather is better than this year.

and on that topic, the original Bakewell venue once again proved problematical. Bakewell Showground unfortunately runs right by the river Wye and effectively acts as a floodplain. Add in potential water-table issues and its a recipe for disaster on a wet weekend. Unless the July weather is a corker, it's always gonna be muddy, so in that respect it's good to move it. But I too, would have reservations and feel once you're in the new venue, you are part of a captive audience when wanting to eat/drink.

Anyway, see this ...

I saw the Eroica advertised recently as a "family lifestyle festival"....no mention of bikes or cycling!

Regarding the "mud-bath" Christmas Festival last weekend at Bakewell Showground, the traffic was backed up from the B 5056/Picory Corner junction into Bakewell....so it's not just L'Eroica Britannia causing problems!

I am booked onto two Eroicas now, California and Britannia, on my Eroica world traveler plan.

Next year will probably be Tuscany and SA. 2019 Japan and Portugal.

Looking forward to the ride,

David.

1999 Raleigh Oval Titanium Dura Ace
1997 Colnago Oval Titanio Art Deco Chorus
1969 Holdsworth Professional Record.

The Italian event is wonderful and although the "Brits" seem to be doing worldwide marketing, the location in the town means they are limited in how much they can mess with it. And my limited experience of Japan makes me think this will be a great event. Jealous!!

After 3 years I'm passing on this one.

Come to France for a change.

Maybe; I'm planning to go to Eroica Limburg. I live in Kent so nipping over the channel is no big deal ...
