Met him at the end of the Nissan Classic in Dublin, in 1988. He was at hotel reception, still in his PDM racing gear, I asked him for his race number, which of course he obliged with.
Later we followed him down the street, he was with a couple of team mates, they went into a pizza place, we went in too, sat at the next table, we got his autograph and some photos.
I met him also at the finish of the 86 Nissan, in October. He just rode 2 stages, but was obviously exhausted after the Tour still. He stayed on the race though, introduced to the crowd at stage ends, where I got his autograph.
