Eddy Merckx 7 Eleven Corsa Extra

That looks great.

I'm another 7-11 fan, not for any other reason than I like the colour scheme and also the whole ethic of the team at the time, which was basically to race and have lot of fun... sounds good to me.

Nice couple of bikes you have Craig, what's next? A Lemond perhaps ;)

thanks gents - yup, i took "the christmas bike" out yesterday for a blast and
in spite of the freezing cold it was lovely to ride. felt similar to the 753
but a whole lot prettier to look down at when you're riding along!

that's funny you mention that about the 7 eleven team being a "fun"
team - when you look at that team photo you think "jesus, they
were just a bunch of kids!!" funny how my mind's eye remembers
them as serious "grown ups" at the time! it's a shame to think
that those innocent days are gone now - for me, the 7 eleven team
was the epitomy of good fun cycling - what an adventure that must
have been back then.

the man hasn't changed one bit!!

i will forever remember phil liggett interviewing him on channel 4's tour
de france programme and asking "how does it feel to be the first
american to wear the yellow jersey?" to which stieda said
"i'm proud to be the first CANADIAN to wear the yellow jersey...!"

a legend in his own right.

I think Stieda is maybe selling himself a bit short in the video, as his break is mentioned in Slaying the Badger, and was considered (by Greg Lemond I think) to be an extremely well timed and shrewd move with a lot more thought put into it than Alex lets on to.

Hi mate
Your Merckx looks brilliant!
Very well done on a great build that obviously means a lot.
You can never be dissapionted in the ride of a Merckx ;)
We'll have to hook up for a ride one time when I'm down your way, maybe pick Kaiser up along the way and have a mecretro cruise around your neck of the woods.

Jamie
