Early Stumpjumper questions

Hi guys, On the early Stumpjumpers, were the grips a Specialized product? Or made by someone else? I`m talking about the foam ones with the red end plugs. Did they ever come equipped with other grips, or just those? Should the pedals always be MKS BMX-7? Or were some other models also used?

The grips with the red end caps were Grab-On MTN. They were fitted from 81 to around 84 as far as i know.
Pedals were changed to silver Shimano DX for the 83 model year.
