I've finally indulged my yearning for a 90s bike and have done a deal on a 97 Terratrax in pretty good nick with all original parts. One owner from new. It's hardly been used but has come off worse vs kerbs as has a couple of bad scrapes on seat stay and fork leg. Just some work on the gears, polish up the metalwork and then ready to go. Will post pics

Just need a retro cycling top and then I'm ready!!!

Re:

They just keep coming back....

8-9 years ago I had one of the no-name batch of Kili Comps (Tange Prestige was I think the "wisdom") that were around with blue and white paint jobs:

built as a tourer.

Then I bought an identical frame but in white on here and ran it a number of variations:

Eventually sold both (really should have kept the blue/white one), but now the white one is back from my mate, now ith an UGLI fork (cro-mo not Ti) and with an assortment of parts to become my winter hack...

Starting to go together....

Needs a few bits (to function and to look better!), but I think it'll be OK. Whether or not my health will allow it to do much is another matter (the visible folder is for getting on a bus when my lungs are having an even worse day than usual!).

Nice frames though.

Re:

My 1992 Saracen Tufftrax Elite. I picked this up in May as a replacement work bike and rejuvenated it. To be honest this bike needed a lot more work than first appeared - must have been my rose tinted glasses:) Work included replacing all the rear wheel drive-side spokes (cut through from what appears to be a derailed chain incident) and a removing a knackered Deore chainset with stripped threads and signs of the last owner attempting to hammer it off. I fitted new sprockets, chain, Charge Bucket saddle, cables, bottom-bracket & tyres/tubes. Replacement front STX & Deore LX rear mechs and a Sachs chainset were fitted. I waxoyled the frame and rebuilt the front shifters (helped by the great guide on this forum). Pedals are LOOK MOAB's - I really rate these indestructible pedals! I left the frame alone as I quite like the patina of scratches etc. I love the ride of the Saracen and find that this bike attracts positive comments - lots of affection for older Saracens.

Nice Tuffy their mate and it reminds me of my 95 model that i bought in 96 which i sorely miss but yes you've done really good work saving it and the original paint work looks pretty good considering it's age ;) ..
