As the hubs and rims are Japanese the spokes could well be Hoshi like these?

They do have that 'H' on them so that would make sense......thanks, do really like this bike, enjoying the project!

I'm keeping the tyres for now, but will let you know if I ever do offload them......the Shimano M700 Deore XT range came out in 1983 so slightly predates this, but who knows their logic! , maybe XT just sounded cool...!

I believe the XT name is a bit of a throwback to BMX, the X standing for 'Cross', so XT would be 'Cross Terrain'...

Also seems originally they were only drilled for presta valves.....so rear rim must have been enlarged
