Early Kili Flyer

Re:

This is in my area, In fact I've seen this in the flesh last weekend. According to the seller It was previously owned by an elderly gent who could no longer ride it any more.

I can confirm that the frame and fork are in very nice shape indeed. It's also mostly original spec as far as I can tell, including a deerhead rear mech that you can't see in the pictures. Original Saddle and seatpost have gone AWOL but I was told that the post moves freely. I think it's an '85 from a bit of research?

Anyroad, I'm happy to pass by and pick up if anybody fancies it :D

Re:

Rule of thumb with early kili's, if it's got shimano shifters and mechs it's a 86 if it has suntour its 85,
Unusual colour and a good price...

Good to know, every day is a school day!

From memory it definitely has a Deerhead rear mech, Sugino AT chainset which I think is also OEM? Just can't recall what shifters and brakes are present.

I'm almost starting to talk myself into having a little punt... but no room at the inn :(

Go on! :xmas-wink:

I can't....

I mean, its just down the road from where I'm potentially moving.... but I really can't

Happy to post it down to Devon though, if you want something to keep the Falcon company :D

Re:

Would sit perfectly between the '84 Falcon and the '86 Evans. Is it fillet brazed? Falcon is tig welded, Evans lugged, so if so would fill a pretty nice niche in the mid 80s part of my collection.

...must...resist...

Part tigged, part lugged from memory....

Maybe I’ll swing by tomorrow for another look, if it’s still there :D

I dont think theres a hint of Shimano anywhere on this bike, Sugino cranks, Nitto bars/ stem, Dia-Compe brakes etc

miss matched wheels and that seatpost could be too small.

Cant quite make out the brake bridge because of that brutal lock but would say around 1985/6 latest

*just noticed the vertical drop-outs too, points to a teeny tiny bit later but not much

And heres a Conquest and Flyer together - note the rear seat stays, I would say an Autostrader built 1986
