£22 is the lowest parcelforce charge which is quite steep - i should be alright on the packaging side of things

Pharos Parcel is who you need to use.
They are an agent for UPS - so that is who they use! http://www.pharosparcel.com/

I've used them for the last 4 years - for bikes, frames or any other heavy/large items.
It's all done online - print out the label stick on parcel - UPS driver collects the next day.
Delivery is normally next day + is fully trackable online. Just sent a frame to London insured for £80 cost = £14.40.

The only drawback is you have to be around for the driver to collect.
