A mid 1950s bike for me. A French Audax bike maybe? Brakes are quite short reach, looks to be 700c. I could be wrong and am often

Yup - it's one of those great films that just need to be watched at least once in your life though.

Came back from the charity store empty handed this time. There were some suitable large flange hubs made by Manufrance, and what I think could have been a suitable freewheel on a ladies more modern looking low-end Gitane. Rims were totally rusted, so bailed out.

Appreciate the input guys to the date / time period. Seems there is a consensus of 1950s for the moment.

I'll sort out some more pictures of other bits which could help. I'm completely out of familiar territory here.
