Early 2000's Kona Roast WTF do I have?

I have this Kona Roast frame that has lots of weird issues. I bought it knowing it though. I just had to have it to see what I could find out. The paint and decals do not fit any that were standard production. The chainstays, dropouts, and welds are not standard either. The welds are way crappy as well. But it has a lot in common with Scraps, Roasts and other Konas. Its a real strange duck. Anyone have any clues on what the hell it is? A boot leg? The serial number is Apple? Please help.

Roast had square tube seat stays 2000 and beyond. Is that square tube or something else??
99 had a headtube gusset so it's not that either.
My guess is it is not a Kona at all.

BB sheel look waaaay outta whack with the stays.

Re:

those look like GT dropouts to me, but its obviously not a GT any more than its a kona.... Whatever it is, it looks crap. I would just bin it mate

That almost looks like it could be a Saracen, but unlikely, just the dropouts are similar.

My first thought is stolen, serial number removed then resprayed, as the replaceable dropout is the same colour too.

Thanks everyone. A true piece of crap... Will donate to a local bike co-op. Solid free frame for someone in need.
