I've just picked up a Dynatech frame which was apparently languishing in a shed for several years. All the decals are gone, apart from the seat-tube sticker which says it's a 2120, with a serial number BB3191. All the tubes are black with red blue & gold metalflakes. Frame number is D04128.

Can anyone tell me what year/model name/spec level it would have been?

Hi, the one just sold on ebay?

Have you got any pictures, always helpful ;)

If its the one off ebay then its the MT-4 from '93 as it says. The Ogre is the same frame but a dark wine colour which looks black in the catalogue, the Ogre was a full bike the MT-4 was a frameset.

Still be good to see some pictures though :)

It was off eBay, but it wasn't the one that got posted in the eBay section here. The ad didn't give any model/year info at all.

I'll try and clean the worst of the grime off before doing a photo. To be honest, the metallic colour won't really show in pics as it's very subtle.

EDIT - definitely not a '93 MT4, no bare-metal tubes on mine. I'm sure it's the original paint, as the dealer stickers are still attached, along with the seat-tube sticker.

Ah, ok. Will be good to see some pics anyway, you could start a thread for it maybe?

The serial would suggest it is a '93 and like above, it is the MT-4 frame if its black.

I'll start a thread once I've got it properly cleaned, but here's a couple of quick snaps:

Yes, the MT-4 has the bare Ti tubes and Ti chainstays. Not sure what model this is, im sure someone will be able to id it, here is a link to one of many threads on the site which may have details about this frame. The search function on here is really helpful as there is so much info on here, just need to look.

Re:

Thanks for the pointers :) Apparently it's a '93 Mtrax after all. Never mind, it will make for a nice hack bike :D

Think you've nailed it, deffo not an MT4 or Ogre as I've had a few - the seat tube clamp/lug is the big give-away as they are totally diffo on the above and the seat stays are bolted/rivited on - yours looks welded. Get a magnet on the main tubes, hate to say it but I do wonder if it could be all-steel as my all-steel bonded M-Trax that I had, had exactly the same lugs etc, despite the 'Ti' sticker. Paint however does look to be exactly the same metal flake black as on my MT4 that I salvaged earlier this year, however mine has silver painted main-tubes.

I was going to say it might have been a warranty replacement for an '89 Avanti, I think they were metallic black all over.
Raleigh used to take back the broken frames and paint a current equivalent in the same colours to return to the customer under warranty.

I had the same frame when I was younger before it got stolen. Probably around 94. It was branded as an M-Trax
