Duro Tyres

My old raleigh came with a set of 26x2.1 tyres. The only branding I can find on them is Duro ? Whilst they have pretty good grip off road (especially in the mud) they are hard work on the tarmac. The details on the tyre merely say DURO 26x2.1 inflate to 50psi.

Does anybody know what I've got and whether they are any good. The tyres are probably 15 years old, does the rubber degrade or are they ok to keep on using - plenty of tread left.

budget tyres - can still be found in Wilkinsons last time I looked

Duro are budget as LGF says. Rubber will degrade, dryout and crack overtime. If your happy with them I'd say use and abuse untill they fail

There is never any point replacing stuff your happy with untill its broke. Others on this site will strongly disagree as per usual :roll:

They are in pretty good nick, no deterioriation and seem to be better at handling mud than the specialised fast Traks I have on the other bike. Will keep them for the time being and wait until they are wrecked before replacing them.
