What are they all about? Ok, ok, I know you're supposed to put them on your phone so the phone can detect that you're driving 'carefully'.

But how does it know if you're driving like a tool? It doesn't detect you pulling out in front of people. It doesn't detect you ploughing across a roundabout without slowing. It doesn't detect you driving the wrong way up a motorway.

I don no think they are to give you lower premiums. It is my belief they are there to justify higher premiums.

Because you're using a phone while driving, that's usually a pretty good indicator.

In seriousness though, I think some phones have accelerometers, GPS etc. so they can detect that you're accelerating and decelerating hard, cornering fast etc.
