The first proper bike I spent money on was in 1998, I bought a Marin Mount Vision and still have it to this day. I was a frequent visitor to Denton’s Cycles in Newcastle (sadly long gone) where I bought it, and I remember being offered a test ride of a Whyte PRST1 when they first came out. I was amazed by the fork. As I’d just spent the thick end of £1600 on my Marin I couldn’t justify buying another bike. I’ve always fancied a PRST1 as that test ride made a big impact on me.
Anyway, jump forward 25 years and I was out riding with an old work colleague at the weekend and he asked me if would like his old MTB ad he needed the room. Only turned out to be a Whyte PRST1.
Pretty much original condition. Hope hubs and disc brakes, XTR rapid rise mech, carbon Easton Monkey bars (way too narrow). I’ve been out on it tonight and sorted the pressure in the shocks and off-road it’s absolutely glorious.
