Don't lose the v-brakes, keep the v-brakes. That way, you can actually stop it, and it's thus far less likely to get smashed.

I've always wanted one of these - a good friend had one built back in the early 90's - I know its still in his shed - must try and lever it away from him

Must be one of the only London built MTB's and he still makes them new - just pop down to Croydon, get measured and hand over £825 for a truly handbuilt master piece of a frame - Go Chas ....
