i think someone has posted the wrong thread or got their wires crossed ,the 'gods bollx' was made by chaz roberts not dave lloyd and the former is made largely but not solely of 853 tubing ,the others being Dedacciai and Foco mix .

http://www.robertscycles.com/prices.html

still ,a weight for this frame could sway a decision !

BITD (1993) different tubes were used than today ;)

The bi-ovalising of the top and down tubes is clearly visible, and the seat tube appears to be ovalised as it meets the bb shell. All that says Columbus Max OR as stated.

I think Roberts was involved with the pre-production testing of Reynolds 853, but that wouldn't have been any earlier than 1995.

i dont understand why the first person who claimed that it is mainly Columbus Max has posted a source that leads to a dave lloyd restoration

as far as the claims that are being made for this roberts "the dogs bollx " frame that is for sale the owner says 92 ,you guys are saying 93 can anyone post any links that proove the theory of columbus max tubing please ,not thet i dont believe you i would just like to read the evidence myself if indeed there is any that is

a weight would be helpful for the sale of this frame

 Have you actually read the link by Sinnerman?

I'm telling you that's a MAX main frame.... proof enough :D

i think you need to read

......ok, if you look at the thread link i have posted closely, its a thread for my own 1993 dogs, including pics and a spec list, there is a link to my lloyd build, on that thread,, and im sure if you read the two, threads you will understand why.....!!!!!!!!!!

As for your link to the roberts website, this is for there current offering of a modern dog bollox, clearly showing the frame with reynolds 853.

the spec list i posted ...see again below, is for the frame jez is selling, and exactly period correct for the frame.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And in my humble opinion a little more exclusive than the modern version....but hey this is only my humble opinion for what its worth....!!!!

I will also confirm, that the frame spec list was not made up in my head by actual fact from the actual catalouge from the period build that came with my 1993 manufactured dogs bollox frame......!!!!!!!!!

I also have the original invoice for the build, confirming this.....!!!!!!

IT was my intention to show just how awesum a frame these are...and the work that went into them, in using such fantastic tubing, certainly not to upset anyone, that have yet to own such an amazing machine.

good luck in the sale, anyone that lands a dogs, will enjoy it......!!!!

Frame specs for 1993 vintage---

Ultra stiff Columbus Max main frame.
Composite rear stays--
---Extra stiff 4130 horseshoe to minimize brake flex
---Silver soldered Reynolds 753 stays
---Columbus SL monostay
---Massive clearances to eliminate mud build up.
---White powdercoat base, finished in D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X team colours.

please read a link properly, before critising it, it may actually be of some use......!!!!!!!

p.s if needed i can search out the catalouge and scan it.......

yo hello yo eddy,
i dont make a habit of accepting anything that anyone says without a little scrutiny , if you provide sufficient evidence we would'nt be having this discussion and that make me think its just here say
in this next paragraph roberts is quoted as saying the "ultimate comp frame set " , please let me know where i can find this article that features any of the following information please

Roberts called it there ultimate competition frameset, race tested by Dave Hemmings......!!!!!!!

Frame specs for 1993 vintage---

Ultra stiff Columbus Max main frame.
Composite rear stays--
---Extra stiff 4130 horseshoe to minimize brake flex
---Silver soldered Reynolds 753 stays
---Columbus SL monostay
---Massive clearances to eliminate mud build up.
---White powdercoat base, finished in D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X team colours.
---Custom Roberts stem built individually to suit each frame.

if that is the evidence you are refering to it is nothing more than a little name dropping and a list of materials that may or may not have been used , do you have a source for the claims in this paragraph please ? ;)

proper fuzzy...........thats what this is, and jez dont be embarrased......!!!!

When i get home, i will search out the original "ROBERTS" period catalogue, that came with my own roberts dogs bollox of the same year, which clearly states in writing for the world to see, the entire quote, and frame specs.....!!!!

tomorro i will scan and post when back at work.....!!!!!!!!!!

Then "hopefully" an apology will be given...!!!!
