Shsssh. Careless torque costs lives.

I've never understood the torque requirements on components like stems and what not, suppose it's because some are running carbon. I only ever care about torque specs for stuff that requires a good belter of a push, my cranks are really the only thing I care about using a torque wrench for.

Personally, I think this was to avoid countless warranty claims from users who perceived them as a bling; must have item but had no idea about how to even tighten them in the correct sequence, never mind torque settings.

They got back to me and confirmed that it is genuine, but an older variant. Nothing fishy there.

Some people have no idea though and don't even have a torque wrench for that kind of low torque, I know I don't it's just done by feel
You need to do them gently in a cross method and need to make sure the top and bottom of the face plate is even.
I've seen people crack hydraulic brake lever mounts

I have a torque wrench but only for my cranks, everything else I do by hand. I did think of getting one of them little hex keys with a torque thingymabob but I don't like spending money on tools when I could spend them on bike tat. Or beer.

Just by feel most bolts will be fine. If I was a bike mechanic then yes.
Unless Aldi have a cheapo one at some point

If anything I would recommend a 5nm preset torque wrench to novices rather than experienced mechanics. I've seen novices snap/round bolts, strip threads in the aluminium stem or snap face plates.
Most competent and experienced mechanics (home or shop) would know to tighten with the wrist, not hang their body weight on the long end of a P-handle.

No, that wasn't my point. I meant if I was doing it all day and on other peoples bikes then I would get a torque wrench
I never over tighten things, most normal people can tell too tight to too loose.
It's the ones with no idea that end up breaking things
especially with alloy threads in some components
