Does anyone here have modern bikes?

Starting to wonder if maybe I was a spoiled little rich kid, or my frogskins were a shade too pink, but aside from a Raleigh burner or two I never rode a bike this heavy back in the day. My '90 Dawes raw nerve was well under 27lbs. Most of my mates had konas or marins.
I do seem to remember GT's seeming relatively heavy though...

I have just bought (well a couple of months ago now) 2013 Hardrock 29er. It was £500 and weighs 33 pounds. So pretty heavy. I notice the weight when lifting but not when riding. I have heard that 29er's typically weigh more. But I love the bike, I just think of it as a training bike. So hopefully if I upgrade in a couple of years I will be flying up hills.....hopefully :?

By the way, I know this is a RETRO BIKE forum and I have started a post about modern bikes...and now posting pictures of MODERN BIKES. But should be receiving my 93 kona tomorrow so I will feel like I belong here then
