does anybody have an xtr spider removal tool, in watford??

like it says, tried all the old tricks with a hammer and screwdriver vice etc, but now just taking chunks off the ally lockring, tried halfords, and of course they were rubbish. Probably try my lbs at the weekend but just thought id try here.

its the 90s grey xtr, cant remember the model number but you know the one.

Any help would be great,

thought it might be the same as an old bb tool but wasn't sure.

Looks like i'll have to purchase another tool ill use twice in my life, oh well.

Are you sure that you're undoing it in the right direction? I seem to remember that the lockring on these unscrews in a clockwise direction. Also some models have a spring clip that you have to remove first.

No clips and normal right handed threads for these.

There was/is a little spring clip on M952 for sure.

thanks so much for the tool offer, but im off to the shop now. Ill get a can of wd while im out too.

There was a spring clip on there which i took off, as for the lh/rh thread im not sure, suppose i'll find out in a few minutes.
