Do Stronglight still produce 94mm bcd chainrings?....

Looks like i've said something arse about face in that opener, i'll try again a different way round...What's the dance when replacement 94mm bcd rings are needed? Do folk have to source old stock or are the old cranks null & void and a fresh start called for?

The picture is 4 arm thought though the description is 5 arm CD, just read through the listings on CRC (other shops are available). they will often show a 4 arm chainring in the pic though follow the links and they will be available in 5 arm CD and 5 arm non compact or 110BCD.

Thanks for the extra fixie...anychance you could direct me specifically to anybody that stocks (currently) 5 arm 94mm?

Where do Specialites fit into the replacement rings league table?

The cheaper Stronglight rings (like the 'Dural' ones) lack any shifting ramps or pins so they aren't quite so good when shifting on double or triple chainring set ups.
They are great for bikes with a single ring though, or when used as an inner ring which doesn't need any shifting aids.
Plus they are also fairly cheap.

The more expensive Stronglight 'Zircal' chainrings have shifting ramps and pins machined into the inner face of the middle and outer rings to help with shifting.

The Specialites TA chainrings also have shifting ramps and pins, and appear similar in design to the Zircal ones. I've not used the Zircal chainrings myself, but I have used several TA rings over the years. From experience I can tell you that the ramps do work well, although it's not as effortlessly as with modern Shimano chainrings.
They also have good longevity too.

It's a bit difficult to navigate but the Stronglight website is here: --> http://www.stronglight.com/stronglight/accueil.php
