Do Pace extruder grooves actually work?

As per subject, do you reckon Pace extruder groove cut outs actually extend the life of the chainring, or are they just a gimmick?

Yes, depending on type of substrate etc.
Only in my mind though, I have no proof!

In my experience the grooves don't do anything noticable other than make the rings harder to clean...

Pretty much impossible to prove without a lab set up.

Love the idea of them though.

I wonder if no one else has done it because pace patented it or because its a gimmick?

I reckon they work. I had some that lasted years in west Yorks mud. One may still be working on a friend's bike!
Problem was/is that if they work, customers don't come back for new ones for ages.

Might be due to the grade of aluminium used.
