Sunrace (sturmey archer) is average at best, not as bad as some brands but nowhere near Shimano in terms of quality

I seem to remember those Epoch shifters, I think I had a bike with them on in the late 80's or maybe the early 90's

They did the job OK, but nothing special. I don't know which rear mechs it would work with as the bike also had a Epoch rear mech

I have a bike with them on.

If I walk to the kitchen and look out of the window, I can see that bike leaning against the wall at the bottom of the garden.

I leave the bike there in the hope that someone might steal it, largely because the shifters are so bad.
