Most 'high end' DSLRs now have live view options of varying success. Improving all the time.
As for sensors, they are ridiculously capable now, especially in terms of low light/high iso performance.
This means goodbye to tripods for a lot of carry around lenses, which come with a variety of stabilization options as well. The combination of fast glass and high iso performance is what is revolutionising photography for me.
Being able to shoot HD video is also a neat trick, though dedicated film cameras have the upper hand on usability.
I never paid attention to pixel counts once they reached 12 million or so, my current main cameras are a 12 megapixel D700 and a 24 megapixel D600. I prefer the handling of the D700, it is more tank like than the lighter smaller D600, but the D600 is a great carry around with a short lens.
Lenses make much more difference than most of the £300 to £1000 differential in bodies, in terms of pure photography.
