Diamondback Axis colour mystery

Just picked up this 21" Axis, I have DEEP searched the internet but cant find another like it colourwise. In the photos it looks grey but in the flesh its definitely a metalic blue grey.
The ID stamp is U30905933 which not 100% SURE but possibly means its a 1993.

Nice score - quality! Someone will be along to confirm either way but something in my head tells me I've seen this colour before on RB and it was a European (non-UK) colour-way. That's my sketchy memory telling me this though

Just seen this 1992 Axis that sold on ebay seem to be the closest so far...it does look grey but could just be the photo..this colour is hard to capture correctly.

Also this catalogue image states of the bike avalible in grey with blue pearl...So this must be it i guess?

Good shout. It's a lacquer on top - I've an earlier Apex I think it is - the white one with acetylene smoke effect and straight forks - over the top of that is a very faint pinky-purple shimmering lacquer which in bright sun is pretty cool. With on-line pictures you'd never know it had this subtle effect

TT lite tubeset was 94/95 iirc. Colour could be a non-UK/europe option as I have never seen that colour of Axis before.
The alternative 92 brochure colour you show in a pic, there is one listed on ebay currently. Note 92 models have 3 cables on side oftop tube, the 94 has 2 plus the 3rd on the upper top tube.

This is the earliest Axis on my list. Frame number is 1993, September - The first digit is the year, digits 2 and 3 are the month. I'm fairly sure it is a 1994 model bike. Certainly looks a lot like mine.

BTW: the Arrival had same paint job as the Alternative color for the Axis in 1992
