the one you sent WAS perfect and i was going to use it but i started buying stuff without checking that the forks i had actually fitted the frame, which they didnt so i'm going ahead now.

the home made forks are getting sleeved and welded shortly and i will also be removing the canti mount.

i am not happy with th ecolour for the frame as to me it just looks like red oxide primer rather than the matt brown it is supposed to be.

.

how annoying, re colour and fork, but am intrigued by your homemade one! will be watching this space!!

ps, great spot on the saddle, I grabbed a couple for the tandem and one for my carrier bike resto while they were on offer! ;)

it is not that exciting. i had a set of 700c 1" commuter suspension forks in the shed. stripped them down to the crown/steerer/stantions...

http://i36.tinypic.com/23yps.jpg

then went on ebay and bought a set of forks for a schwinn stingray...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-Schwinn ... 439c7cb066

then chopped the schwinn fork down to give a 390mm a-c length.

the schwinn fork is quite a bit bigger inside diameter than the outside diameter of the stantions so my mate is going to get 2 sleeves made up. he is then going to make everything work!

the fork is the pics is held together using a chopped up innertube wrapped around the stantions and the schwinn lowers rammed in place.

suprisingly solid as it is.....

 skillz!

i should change that to " my mate SAYS he is going to get 2 sleeves made up and he SAYS he will make everything work.

i'm still waiting for him to fix my van...

another update.

fork is on standstill as my mate is too busy so i have bought a straight legged fork off lgf which may actually fit the build better. the steerer is too short so i have bought a bbb extender.

tyre choice may be changing. not sure it will suite the cream now. the mrs has some whitewalls on her cruiser so i'll give them a try.

the rear wheel build was a disaster but all is not lost as i have finally sourced an affordable 32 hole coaster brake rear hub (huuuuge thanks lgf)

the frame is now repainted in a dark brown. i have tried to do something a little different with is but i'll let the pics do the talking.

cant wait for the hub to arrive then i can get the whole thing put together.
