Diamond Back Ascent EX Adventure Series

Brechfaman

Retro Newbie
Picked this up yesterday. have cleaned and over hauled. some interesting parts and colour scheme. Not sure of the year, if anyone knows please let me know. is in pretty decent condition has mostly original parts including one of the tioga farmer john tyres. rear mech is a cheap later replacement from what i can see. pretty pleased with the end result and working perfectly.

I'd guess at late 80s - maybe 88.

I'd expect an 89 to have straight blade forks, and a 90 to have a rear canti, so going to go with 88, as my guess.

i agree, i used to sell them back in the day. 88 u- brake, 89 straight fork. 90 OS headset.

nice bike just needs a new rear mech.

Thanks for your reply biglev. yes am thinking of replacing the rear mech... do you know what mech was originally on these?

My man! I am overwhelmed, that is a stunning piece of time-warp-cyclery right there.

So cool, from the Tioga farmer John & Cousin fr tyre to the smoked paint & U-brake. Saddle & stem need work however. Tioga T-bone required. An Avenir saddle & clips & straps would just complete it.

Need to have full Deore MT-60 parts, rear mech and thumbies need replacing and the brake levers may also be wrong too.

Carl.

thanks for the replies . i do like it the more i see it . yes it does need more original parts to complete it... will see what happens

Here's mine but in red. These are really quite nice Japanese Tange frames, surprisingly good to ride.

JIS headset sizing on these.
