They've always made loads of stuff and variants of the same thing, they are also an OEM so have their stuff rebranded too.
There's a health market for the traditional fashion bikes and Japan probably has a lot of it. Araya for example.
The 988 is not a 987/6. It's quite different design. It is more like the Suntour branded 93+ XC versions though.
