Deore LX ST-M567 Shifter/Brake Date?

Hi all. The lever on left hand 8 speed shifter came off yesterday on my 2004 Marin San Rafael. So I need a replacement. I could, but am reluctant to, upgrade to a 9 speed set up.

I've found a M567 NOS for sale. Anyone know the date of this model?

Also is it compatible with a Vee brake set-up?

Thanks. Any recommendations for NOS models I should be looking out for? I don't like the look of 8 speed shifters currently available.
