Haha... Love the Fabergé egg analogy, and thanks for everyone's feedback.

Well I got the Groupo, although not in hand yet.

I'll hopefully pick it up tomorrow, otherwise it will be another week before I get it as I'm away on business next week.

If anyone did want that 'Fabergé' egg derailleur in their collection I could be interested in a swap on both derailleurs as ideally i wanted XT.

I'll post up some pictures when I get it so you can see what great condition it's in. Honestly... If its done 10 miles i'd be surprised.

If you decide to swap it flick me a message I could be keen to swap it / part. I have taken some used but fairly mint ST M090 (90 XT STI) shifters and levers of a bike yesterday that would be a better period fit for your beast.

Hi Leyton, just got my first thumb shifter and brake lever MT-62. Using the STX RD-FD and I am considering change to MT-62 FD-RD.

is it better to change the MT-62 RDFD itself or should I stay with STX RD-FD?

Does friction groupsets mechanism works differently between the index groupsets mechanism? And how is the value between STX and Deore MT-62?
