Deore chainset mystery

I just bought a job lot of old cycle bits and amoungst it was a deore chainset that I cant seem to find any info on. It has a matching set of pedals which were clearly designed to work with the cranks as the spindles are HUGE. The ratio of the rings is different too. 36/48/52 I think. Any ideas anyone? no pics yet but I will get some done.

Shimano 600 AX road group have larger and specific pedal spindles. Whilst researching them never came across a triple though.

Fromage, that's the bugger. Did it need a specific mech to compliment it? I am missing the toe clips though.

no, but it is always nice to have the complete set.

I'd be interested in the chainset if you find you have no use for it.
