Well, I've been talking this week with a very friendly chap in charge of DeKerf.co.uk (gotta admit I didn't know there was a uk arm since The Fridge stopped) and he explained that it was pretty much as above, renewed support and faith in the product's releveance in a changing mtb world has spurred him on.
Hopefully it'll mean more nice handbuilt steel options to an I.F or a Seven or a Cycip or a Vanilla etc and the hardtail world will be a richer place again.
I think B3's right and I'm sure a lot of the people on this forum will be similar in preferring to build a frame up ratehr than a stock bike. But then I would imagine the demographic of this site would be fairly close, I sense a lot of people that lusted after Grafton and Ringle 15 yrs ago and could only afford a Saracen or a Rockhoper and now, although still not actually being able to afford it all, can at least borrow loads more than they could back then and can actually have these parts/ bikes they wanted so much back in the salad days.
Anyway, I'll stop waffling on, and just be happy that Dekerf continues and hope it doesn't turn all big and corperate and ugly and lose the whole point of buying a frame actually made by the bloke who's name is on the downtube. But I'm sure that would be a way off anyway.
Happy Thursday.
