Not quite sure what year this is, think 2003. Anyway, I flipped the stem, cut the steerer and the effect was a much improved ride.

Mix of modern and old - Exotic carbon forks, XT thumbies, M950 rear mech, M737 front mech, X Lite bars, amber walled Wildslippers, Flite, Middleburns.

Looks  in this set-up......... But Ed, you know you're the man that needs a 29er, believe me, that would make you happy..... might even further improve your legendary downhill skills ;)

I should have taken up the opportunity of the Groovy 29er when I had the brief chance but he who hesitates is lost.......

Lovely Ed, needs nicer forks though.

Fair enough, any particular recommendation?

[PS It rides so much better having cut down the steerer and gone with a flatter stem!]

Looks great - However, I didn't realise that you were 7ft tall!

I've just gone carbon rigid up front on my Team SST and I'm loving the weight saving - plus it looks cool :D

Indeed---awesome bike! Segmented stays are hotness for days.

But I agree--if that fit is spot on, you'd haul ass on a 29er.
