Definitive Retro Year?

Because?

1990: bolt-on rear triangles, amazing paint, rapidfire (not awesome, but a first step past default tech: showed they were thinking), rs1s, the alien acx and because my first good bike was a 1990 nishiki.

1992: m900, decent suspension, microdrive, my first awesome bike (m2 team), high-end steel, high-end ti, ritcheys on the world cup podium.

Hmm..I'd also like to vote in favour of 1994 - really light bikes (possibly too light though) and with the excitement of front sus just beginning to really happen.

Whatever, it has to be before 4-bolt chainsets!

At the time, it was 1994. Hours spent pawing over the Kona catalogue and dreaming up Lava Dome's in boutique specs, drawing them all over my text books at school, weekends spent at Chicksands on my 35lb bike - happy days

91-93 the e-stay era.

I think I can almost name a month - July 1993

Cant remember what day but I'd had a fantastic few days in Hunstanton, cycling the 86 miles from my house on my Claud Butler Pagan - the Fat green one, debadged and upgraded with MAG 20s and black LX cranks.

Anyway, cycling the 86m back home with tent and kit, coming through the Thicket path between St.Ives and Houghton - just about everyone I new was riding the other way. The was a GT Tequesta (splatter blue) red Saracen e-stay with the box tubing, GT Karakoram and a sprinkling of other stuff ridden by my friends.

I was knackered and out came the drinks, food and a pat on the back for being so luntic in riding that far.

I dont think I've experienced that feeling ever since apart from the pharmacutical induced stuff at hard house meets....
