Been thinking about a DCD on my 1 x 9 speed build (along with a seat tube mounted upper chain guide)

I don't really know much about the DCD, but it looks like it would help keep the chain on the single ring up front, is this the case?

Any downsides to 'em?

I'm sure there's a tale or two lurking on the forum about DCD incidents ;)

Im using a 1x9 set up but without any cd's fitted. Its a subject i was wondering about myself.
Cant say ive had any problems thus far without one.
What was it going on :?

What sort of riding have you done & what parts have you used on your build?

Mine is a Marin Team Ti http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight=

A DCD on it probably isn't the done thing, but keeping the chain on is an issue I need to figure out, I have heard that some riders don't use any kind of chain device & have no problems, but a lot do use some device as they have had issues with chains dropping off

con's , noise ? cut a little bit of inner tube up and put over plastic wheel, or get one with a rubber wheel
pro's, stops chain whip dead, perfect for 1x7/8/9
i ride 80% in the peak's ;)

Con: Makes your bike sound like a diesel taxi
Might be a pro if you're a fan of diesel taxis

You can't beat the rattle of an FX4!

They sound more like a diesel powered cement mixer full of gravel.

But then I did run one BITD with youthful abandon. If it was good enough for JMC and Dave Hemming...

dcd's are cool and make you faster, you can have my purple one if you like........and the dcd ;)

Do they make dcds for sqaure section chainstays....think I have seen one fitted to one before :? :?

chainstay girth size pending will clamp onto these types, you could adjust the clamp on the dcd to help  :D
