Dawes Super Galaxy

I have a Dawes Super Galaxy for either 1987 or 88, judging by the Shimano Mt60 groupset, Reynold 531 and Made In Britain stamped on bars but no serial number under the BB. Is this normal?

Either check the head tube or the rear dropout. I’ve got a Dawes ultra and I don’t thing they put it under the bb shell

And the made in Britain is just that the bars were made in Britain, I’ve got a set of those bars as well.

Aha, good point but it did also have the stickers on the frame and would it really say "Dawes" "Handbuilt in England" just because the handlebars were? I don't think you "hand build" handlebars do you?

An 87 / 88 one will have a Birmingham-brazed frame. It stopped in the late 90s.

How will I recognise a Birmingham-brazed frame?

Essentially all the brazed frames were made in house in Birmingham. Offshore stuff is welded.

Yup mine is fillet brazed.
