I'll probably regret selling this one but here it is anyway

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/277014627387

I listed it at £240 but then ebay added their fees which results in the listing being just over £250

I'm open to offers but the item is collection only from south east essex, hence the bargain price

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
And there was me thinking that you don't see that many Dawes Sardars coming up for sale but since listing mine, another two have appeared on ebay.

Like buses
You've started a
"let's get rid of our sardars" movement.
When will it end?

Great bike, perfect in small for a smaller rider, or all sizes towing a trailer, carrying a child or making through the woods and mountains.
Hopefully it will make someone very happy🤞

The Sardar has sold, just as I was wondering how 500 views and 23 watchers couldn't turn into a sale, it sold. Once it's collected I'll be down to 8 bikes but still only 2 legs.

Purple Orange P7 will be up for sale next

When the green one goes...let me know! 😂
If the green one goes I will let you know.

At the start of the year I found myself with 10 bikes ( I don't have the space for more than 4 bikes assembled at any one time) and thought it was getting out of hand. I grouped them into three categories:-

Touring, general purpose / light off road ( I don't do real off road these days) and Road.

The idea is to get down to one of each but getting down to 4 or 5 would be a good win.

So in the touring category were the Yates, Sardar and Dawes Clubman. Clubman and Sardar are sold - the Yates remains - box ticked.

In the General purpose are P7, Dawes Edge, Pashley Parabike and Raleigh Avanti. Initial plan is to sell the P7 and the Pashley and live with the other two for a while.

In the road section are Lynskey Peloton, Ron Cooper and a Bates BAR. I don't know at the moment what to keep. The Lynskey and Cooper both take a max of 28mm tyres but if the Bates frame was modified to take modern ish (think 90's for modernish) parts then with 700c wheels it might take wide tyres as it was built for 27". Or I sell the Bates with all the period parts on it and keep the cooper and lynskey a bit longer term.

I know I would make more money stripping and selling everything individually but selling whole bikes lets me move on a lot of stuff in one sale and free up more space.

I'm happy for suggestions from the Retrobike Collective over what to sell and what to keep

I think your choices are bang- on.
Keep the best-riding bike in each category.

The parabike should be a good seller, but is a poor ride, unless you're at the village fête in fancy dress😉

You don't really need to squeeze fatter tyres into the bates, because if you need more grip or a plusher ride, you've got a different piece for it.

I do love scorching down a long decent on a steel racer, 23s at 100psi, it's a feeling you dont get in a modern road bike.

Problem with selling in bits is the leftovers. Yes you make more money, but then you get left with "stuff".

Depends on your reason for selling...if its ease, space and workshop zen purity....then selling whole certainly is an answer.

Some top tips there, I think that's made the Bates decision for me - thanks
