Dawes Mirage - can anyone shed some light on this bike

Hello Retrobikers,

I bought this bike the other day from a second hand shop but have been unable to find out any imformation about it.

Here's what I can get from the bike itself:

Frame - Reynolds 500 Cr-Mo Tube
Frame Size - CC - 58/59cm...?
Saddle - Iscaselle white leather
Chainset/crank set - Sachs Huret - 12 speed
Crankarm - Sachs Huret

Front mech/derailleur - Sachs Huret
Rear mech/derailleur - Sachs Huret - 6085/6065

Gear changers - Sachs Huret - 4486
Handle bar stem - ?
Caliper/sidepull brakes - Weinmann
Hubs - Maillard
Hooded brake levers - Weinmann
Pedals - 136R Lyotard Bte S.G.D.G
Rims - Maillard <> 18 x 622 (28 x 1 5 / <> 12 6

I paid £80 for her which I felt may have been on the steep side, but it all seemed original and in okay condition bar a little rust here and there and a few dinks in the paintwork.

If anyone has any information on the bike I would be most grateful if you could share...

Nothing special from the 1980s (grey porridge), the tubes are Reynolds, again nothing super special but ok, but only the three main tubes not whole frame.

I've seen other folk on here proud of lesser bikes!

Should clean up nice, give it a service (cables and lube) probably worth £80.

I had a Dawes Scorpio with Reynolds 500 tubing, a slightly later 80s offering from Dawes with a similar spec (all shimano exage i believe). A really nice bike it was, not the lightest but a great bike to ride. I would expect the mirage to be quite similar

It's better than anything new you could get for £80! What is your plan for this one?
