Dawes Identification ?

Hi Gents,

Can anyone help me identify my bike ? I've had it since 92 but I reckon it's early 80s ? Just trying to decide whether it's worth a respray !

I don't think it's an early eighties model. Lowrider braze-ons, cantilever brakes and 700c wheels didn't appear together until the late eighties. I would put it around 1990, perhaps a year or two either way. Compare this one from 1991 or '92:

I can't tell you which year was blue, but I had a bright red 1990 Super Galaxy that was very similar.

Worth a respray? If it needs one, certainly. It's a well-made frame that will go on for decades if treated properly.

Thanks Jim , that Galaxy frame does look very similar. I have a Rival crankset and a Brooks saddle on mine and no make / model decals . Was there perhaps a budget model below the Galaxy that would have been sold virtually unliveried ?

The lower one was the Horizon, I can't remember the frame tubing (possibly 501), but it wasn't as nice as the Galaxy. But still a decent bike!
