Dawes Genesis any info...?

Hi all, First post.

I’ve recently acquired a Dawes Genesis road bike. I can’t find any information online about it. All I know is that it’s a 531 frame, probably mid-90s. I’m think of treating it to a respray and rebuild but curious to know a little more about it. Will try and post some pictures once I find out how.

Ok, so no replies but here it is again with a new paint job and some changed parts....Clearly not a classic but a lovely smooth ride and very different to my carbon and alu bikes. In fact, almost more enjoyable...I must be getting old!

Dawes Genisis 1995.
Colour: champagne.
Frame set: Reynolds 531 Competition, Mn Mo butted tubing throughtout. Investment cast seat lug and crown. 531 forks.
Original groupset: Shimano Exage 400EX, 14 speed SIS down tube levers (right indexed, left friction), SLR alloy brakes and aero brake levers.
Wheelset: Shimano Exage Q/R hubs, rear 130mm OND, 7 speed freehub, front 100mm OND. SX100 anodised eyeletted alloy rims, stainless spokes straight gauge. Swallow Blizzard 700 x 22c tyres.
Available sizes: 51/54/57/60/63cm
Retail price: £450
Note: The 1994 model with the same spec as above was named 'Impulse'.

Bought mine when I worked in Halfords (51cm). At some point I picked up the Shimano 105SC 8 speed STI complete groupset (everything from hubs to headset) and upgraded the wheels (custom built 1056 rear and 1055 front hubs laced in to Mavic CPX 12, 32 hole rims, DT Swiss D/B spokes). Still use the frameset to this day wearing the Shimano 105 R5800 groupo. In fact I still have all the old 105 stuff and the wheelset. I don't throw many bike bits away....

So little interest in these machines. Don't understand the desire to respray what is a very rare Dawes frame. The second example shows how good it can look.

The original paint finish wasn't the best even when new with minor disclolouration. It was also prone to cranking and flaking at the head tube / headset cup interface and any contact points with bolts / QRs exposing the frame to the elements. The over lacquer has deteriorated over time which hasn't helped. And a respray doesn't diminish the fact that's it's still a Reynolds 531C frame set underneath. I've been looking at the same Champagne colour scheme since 1995...even I may fancy a change of colour palette when I get around to a frame set refurb.
