Just joined
looking for some feedback on my bike. I'm thinking its serviceable but I am looking for pointers on a few things.
1. need new handlebars.
2. need two new inner tubes for the gazzalodi's
3. want an upgrade for the rear shock.
4. need to service the front fork.
5. general thoughts.

I like it, love the front forks, I'm trying to find a set for my Palmer replica I'm building.
I got motor bike tubes for my gazzas, 21" tubes (they work their sizings different to bicycles).
Can't remember the rear shock dimensions, but it's common and you'll find a new rear shock easy as.
Azonic bars would be cool.

Oh and cut the rear cable lol

the fork is a 2001 Manitou x-vert carbon, I believe.
the rear shock is 8.5inches with a stroke of 2.75inches which is hard to get, ideas welcomed.
blue azionics are my preferred option for the bars.
cable will be sorted tonight, I may even put the front disc on the right way.

I didnt want to let mine go but did a few weeks back on ebay like new condition, I got 232quid for them and still didnt think that was enough haha.

2000 I think the forks are mate, not to sure about servicing the forks Ive never done a set but when I had mine I spoke to TFtuning and they said they had a few parts lying around for those certain forks and there the best in the business so its worth a shot.

Rear shock your not wrong I have 3 popped shocks that are the perfect fit as they came off the bike I have and ones i have found on line, I did manage to get a brand new custom made one thou from 2 old shocks by some guy in the states, the RS is a crap shock thou so I suggest doing what Im doing and finding a 8.5x2.5 Fox RC shock so much better and so reliable its a joke.


I was going to say Azonic go for double walls or chubbys, I have a brand new pair in black but Im 12000 miles away so cant help you there, but there is a lot of NOS around and those bars are super cheap like 15-20 quid new.

If you wanted new brakes/hubs id look on here or ebay lots of old hope stock floating around.

Id lose the seat if I was you unless you really are going for comfort over looks haha, oh yeah and lose the tyres! but don't copy me haha

Thanks for your input heavyp I was hoping you would weigh in on this.
I'm pretty lucky, in that the bike is working well in the suspension dept. But I like to have spares for those moments when the inevitable breakages happen. To that end I contacted Manitou/hayes components but they don't carry any spares anymore for this model.

Just looking to find decals for them to tart them up a little.
As for the rear shock, I was thinking about one of these.

Everything else will get there eventually.
Who knows I may even find long travel plates eventually.
On a final note I like the seat as its just perfect for my stomach
and I love the look the tyres have.
I'm sure a different setup might be more nimble but I like the look the bike has atm.
