Looks like you are going through the same issues as me - you aren't the only Dave Yates Diablo on this forum currently undergoing a refurb. :)

Don't get any colour matches from the internet. They're rubbish.

I'm taking a step back & looking exactly where my areas of rubbing / corrosion are & whether they will be covered up by cables / chainset etc. If they are, unless I can get a good colour match this weekend, I'll be using black hammerite.

If I dont get a move on it will be another 20 years until it comes out again.

Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on.

It’s tricky isn’t it, have you got a picture of your Diabolo? Would live to see it.

I think that’s because these frames don’t really command high prices now sadly, it’s maybe an easier decision. I’m leaning towards a repaint.

Thanks Sinnerman that’s kind. I’d say it turned out pretty well for you. I’ve got a few ideas, more details soon.

If you think Diablo's aren't worth much have look at this!

https://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/dave-y ... et-19-inch

Wow, that's vastly overpriced !

Love the bit in the description... 'made in the USA'

They’ve also spelled Diablo wrong and that’s not a Diabolo, that’s a Donkis Nob by the looks of it, still overpriced.

The original bike was named Diablo, with Dave Yates own omission at some point either with intention or by mistake the decal was printed Diabolo, what you see for sale at bricklane bikes, is a Diablo/Diabolo but the Columbus max version, an option at the time for more money using the higher grade Max Tubeset (approx £200 more at retail). . this one obviously has been refinished and specd from new with rack and carrier mounts.

The One Pictured below, is the later MAX team.

Well you learn something every day. I didn’t know that about Diablo/Diabolo spelling or the different versions.

Re:

You could have pretty much what you wanted with them being made to order, heres my max stays, ritchey dropouts and the long headtube.
