Dave Russell - Back to Blue

The only reason two prong freewheels get butchered like that imo is because the tool is not kept in the slot. Use a length of studding or the spindle and put a nut and washer on

I worked in a bike shop back in the 70's and must have changed hundreds of "blocks and chains"

Bolting on a hardened steel tool against a cheese like metal made the metal of the slot peel sideways like a banana skin.

Often easier to remove the cogs and stick the body in a vice.

is it black enamel in the engraving, or just a trick of the light?

I’ve tried to highlight engraving on pedals / hubs / cranks with enamel myself, but just mess it up. Is there a trick / knack to it?
Black enamel once the engraving had been done.
I had an associate do it as I don’t have a steady hand when it’s this fine..
