I had a frame from Dave in the late 70's/early 80's (can't remember exactly!) with that style of chunky seat stay.

I’m currently trying to kid myself that this will fit me when it’s finished but it’s almost certainly too big It’s going to break my heart.

Do you reckon not original then? There is only room for a 27x1 tire in the front fork, whereas the rear will take something much bigger.
