What makes you say its not a Dave Lloyd just curious not undermining you? And it could be a peice of history if it's really the first cab off the rank?? I found it in the street in a pile of rubbish! I spotted it straight away and then did some research and I can't find any bike with those joints except the rare classics. Let me in on your thinking if you don't mind?..

I cannot be certain it is not a Dave Lloyd, your pictures are not sharp and I cannot see any details of the tube joints.. but. There is a lug on the bottom bracket that the lower down tube passes into, all the frames Dave made had fillet brazed joints, and the Allsop era is when Dave was making rather than selling frames. Also, you have cleaned off the paint from the bottom bracket and not found a frame number, all of Dave's frames had a seven digit number starting LL, the next two numbers were the year of manufacture and the next three the individual frame number, so as an example his first ever frame was LL88001.

I know Dave had an Allsop frame in one of his catalogues, and I have seen one for sale but I have never come across a frame number in his register, so they are very rare. However, this does not make them valuable as if they were not popular when new, there is no reason to think they would be any more desirable now.

You have an unusual and interesting frame that could make a good project, but I am not sure it is anything more than that.

As I said before all Dave's frames were fillet brazed and all had a seven digit number.

Your frame is not fillet brazed and you have not indicated that is has a seven digit frame number, what more can I say?

I read of a frame stamped with a single 4? Can't rememberr what it was but it was while I was trying find out about this frame, could've even been on this site. Can you recall any bike maker using single digits at all?

If you are looking up braised fillet - I prefer mine fried in a pan or skillet.

If you are looking up in the internet you may have more success looking up "fillet brazing" on"lugless brazing/frames"

There are lots of advantages to this method in terms of infinite available frame angles for example.
