Dave Lloyd Frame Register

Hi Neil

If you are looking to add to your stable this seems genuine :)

It's a peach isn't it.

I already have an identical frame but the paint is nothing like as good, that one looks totally original.

It failed to sell at £95 and was relisted..... I'm trying to move house so not buying at the moment but was so tempted given the geometry and fork rake which looks like a Strada Speciale from Mercian :)

Re:

This is great, I would love to get some More info on my concept 90, LL92479.
It is most likely sold through cykelcity in Sweden, but any additional info would be very appreciated.

Re:

LL92479 was indeed made for Cykel City, they had two C90's made, yours made of Columbus SLX and the other was made of TSX, they also had a conventional road from made of SLX.

A C90 in SLX eh? I like the sound of that. I wonder if the pair were made for someone, as those tubesets are pretty unusual.

Looking up and down the register from around that time, it appears Cykel City were buying a lot of frames, mostly road in TSX, was it popular in Scandinavia around that time?

Re:

Thanks for the info,
Yes it is made of Columbus slx, Im not the first owner but i am pretty sure I bought it with its original setup. Almost full dura ace 74xx, except for seatpost wich is c-record. The frame has a number plate hanger, but I have no Idea of who it was made for and wether he raced with it or not.

Edit: As for Dave Lloyds being popular in Swe, I wouldn´t really know as I was just a kid when this frame was built. However, the CykelCity store was a local top end bike store in Lund, and I think this was the go to place when buying premium racing bikes in the 80´s and 90´s. Unfortunately, the store closed down just the other year, so I wouldn´t know who to ask.

I pretty sure I haven´t seen any other Dave Lloyds in the flesh in Sweden, so they really can´t be that common...

I've found out a little more to the story of LL93751. The G Brophey I bought it from is the original Gerard Brophey it was built for in 1993. I have built it up with what I had laying around so I could get a feel of it. So far..... damn it feels stiff. Handling feels fine, but haven't really tested it properly yet. It will need new chainstays at some stage to be mint, but I think it's a keeper.

Re:

OHHH YEAH!

Stiff sounds about right, in my limited experience, and also a hint of faster, Faster, FASTER! Lloyd frames do tend to demand to be ridden.

Enjoy.

Looks fast in this view.. It's my first experience of Max :D , and I'm not disappointed. Stiff yet lively, hard to beat really. Cheers.
