dating an old Falcon bike

Re:

Looks like mid to late 70s to me. Not one of the higher end models -- mudguard eyes, pump pegs and no hanger for the rear mech. If the components are original (looks like the Shimano gears might be), then they may have date stamps (cryptic, but there are guides online) that would help. Does mid-late 70s tally with when you got it?

I spy a Reynolds decal

possibly a 'Super Route' given the decal and the period Shimano rear mech?

Look up 'Falcon model 92' as it was also listed as a San Remo

Unfortunately there is also a modern one that has obliterated the search function

I think more likely to be an Olympic 78, given the pressed rear dropouts without mech hanger. See attached from 1975 -- pretty much fits the bill with most of the kit on it being original. Not sure about the wheels -- looks like at least one has been replaced.

Would be good to drop the stem a bit before riding -- looks like that is above the max line for an SR, and could therefore fail.

Pump peg!

Carry on.

I'm surprised by the stick-on head tube badge, rather than a metal one. Not come across that before on a 70s Falcon. And I thought they never brazed anything on Falcons then, so why the pump peg??
