date or identify a Sid Mottram ??

heck it's dark again now :)
i recall the post size on the back of the post and it's visible, i'll get it tomorrow,
the crank, i'll get a better photo of them.
crack ?? non i can see, where each section of tube goes into the joints the edges have been highlighted in gold paint around the shape, looks very retro just the way they tried to highlight all the joints.
i'll double check for a crack, but almost certain there's non..

there is a dent in the upright from BB to seat post, i'll photo that also, i suspect from the accident.

the mud guards all the rivets have come away but could easily be put back on, if you like that sort of thing :)

Re:

i'll check it tomorrow, it certainly does look cracked maybe not even welded,
double check tomorrow for you and all the other points too.

Re:

yes it is cracked, not fully about 80% (as good as) sure can be brazed or re-welded,
next is the dent in the upright i assume caused by the crash.

and front wheel. :)

seat post 27.2 :)

still nothing inside the saddle ??

serial number ?? 649 !!

crank arm 'marque deposee' and crank 'forged garanite ? made in france ?..
can't really read the rest..maybe a TA

Stronglight Cranks and TA Rings, a very popular 50's and 60's combination.

The frame looks as if it was a very nice one BITD and, with a bit of money spent on it, should restore quite well.

well it is for sale should anyone be interested ???

i'm interested in old school BMX, and modern race BMX bikes and parts,
swaps or trades ???

i'm in Nottingham ;)

sRe: date or identify a Sid Mottram ??

Looks like the same frame as mine which I believe is a Wally Green built frame for more information on Wally Green check out classic ligthweight s

It seems Sid Mottram didn't build his own frames the very early one's where built by Holdsworth then wally Green and finally Mercian your frame is exactly the same as mine, the decals are the same but mine is cherry red and has been lacquered to protect the original finish and is nearing the end of a restoration. I will try to post some photos for you to compare against your frame, just out of interest how are you looking for

Fred from the shed I would like to see the photos of your bike. You could start a new thread in Readers Bike section. Sid Mottram's are quite uncommon.
